World renowned flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucia’s exceptional life and rise to fame are exquisitely put together in this film by his son Curro Sánchez.
The director captures his father’s last days on earth just before a sudden and unexpected death in 2014 at 66 years of age. Part homage, part biopic, the film follows Paco and his brother Pepe, who were born into the Flamenco scene. Pepe was originally a guitarist, but Paco’s virtuosity soon rose to the foreground and Pepe became the duo’s lead singer under the guidance of their father in Andalucia.
The film will be presented by the Dutch Flamenco Biennale and followed by a Q&A with the director (son of Paco de Lucia) and LIVE MUSIC tribute to maestro Paco de Lucia by the top of the ‘Nederflamenco’: Arturo Ramón & Edsaert Udo de Haes.
There is a flourishing flamenco culture in the Netherlands. EDSART UDO DE HAES and ARTURO RAMÓN are one of the country’s most talented guitarists. This movie is part of the Amsterdam Spanish Film Festival (ASFF).
