Chromecast is a media streaming device that you connect to the HDMI port of your television. Use your mobile device (tablet or smartphone) to cast your favourite films to your television.
Chromecast works well in combination with Pathé Thuis. You need an Android tablet or smartphone with at least Android 5. You can also use an iPad or iPhone with at least iOS 8. The devices must be connected to the same WiFi network as the Chromecast. To watch the film via your Chromecast, follow these steps:
- Connect to the correct WiFi network.
- Connect to the Chromecast via the icon at the top right.
- Your device connects to the television.
- Start the film via the Pathé Thuis application.
Set up Chromecast for the best image quality at Pathé Thuis
The Chromecast automatically chooses the best mode that your TV supports. The TV adjusts based on the stream. Are you bothered by buffering or stuck images? You can fix this issue by adjusting settings to 50Hz mode. Follow these steps to get the best viewing experience:
Setting up 50Hz mode
- Make sure your phone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast device.
- Open the Google Home app on your Android or iOS device.
- Tap 'Devices' in the top right corner of the app's home screen to see available Chromecast devices.
- Scroll to the device card for the Chromecast you want to use 50Hz mode for.
- Tap the 'Device card menu' > 'Settings' in the top right corner of the device card.
- Check the box next to Use 50Hz HDMI mode - Sets the TV to 50Hz mode (if available). A check mark will appear in the checkbox, which means 50Hz HDMI mode is enabled.
The Chromecast icon is missing when I try to watch Pathé Thuis via my Chromecast
If the Chromecast icon is missing when you try to watch Pathé Thuis on your Chromecast, this usually indicates that some data on the casting device you are using needs to be refreshed.
Please note: iOS users need to give 'Local Network' permission to enable the Chromecast option. You can find this under Settings > Pathé Thuis > Check Local Network.
Follow the steps below for your device to solve the issue:
- Check if your device is connected to the same wireless network as your Chromecast.
- Restart your device
- Update Google Home
- Restart your Chromecast
I get no picture, but I do get sound
Disable screen mirroring in Google Home:
- Open the Google Home app on your phone.
- Tap the menu icon at the bottom right.
- Select Mirror device.
- Select Disconnect.
- Open the Pathé Thuis app.
- Tap the series or film you want to watch.
- Tap the Cast icon on the title description page.
- The title should now be displayed on your TV.
How do I redeem a voucher via my Chromecast?
To use your voucher or gift card on a Chromecast, follow these steps:
- Open the Pathé Thuis app
- Scroll to the right at the top, to your profile
- Select "Kadocode"
- Enter your voucher code in the input field
- Redeem the voucher code
Now it will show which films the voucher code is valid for, select this collection and find your film, enjoy watching!
Are you unable to redeem the voucher code? Then enter the code on your phone/computer and then watch the film on your TV.
