Intermission during Long Films

At Pathé, everything revolves around providing the best film experience. We have noticed that long films sometimes call for a moment of rest. That is why we are starting a trial in which we are adding a 15-minute intermission to selected long films so that you have time to visit the toilet, stretch your legs or grab a snack from the shop.

Why this trial?

We often hear different opinions from our visitors about intermissions during long films. Some like to have a moment of rest, while others prefer to watch the film in one go. What we do see is that more and more visitors to longer films indicate a need for a short intermission. That is why we are starting a test with a number of long films, so that together we can discover what works best for your cinema experience.

Where and when?

The test period runs from 4 December 2025 to 25 February 2026 in the following cinemas:

  • Pathé Ypenburg

  • Pathé Buitenhof

  • Pathé Arena

  • Pathé Zwolle

  • Pathé Amsterdam Noord

  • Pathé Leeuwarden

  • Pathé Amersfoort

  • Pathé Arnhem

  • Pathé Ede

  • Pathé Schouwburgplein

  • Pathé Haarlem

Please note: There will be no intermission in our Premium Auditoriums (IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, and ScreenX).

How do I know if a screening has a intermission?

When purchasing tickets online, you will see a “PAUSE” label in the time slot. This lets you know immediately whether the screening includes a intermission.

Please note: At Pathé Zaandam and Pathé Vlissingen, we show a short intermission during all screenings.
