What types of 3D glasses are used at Pathé?

Last updated on 18 April 2025

We use the RealD system, this is the most commonly used system for watching 3D films. For more information, see RealD.

Pathé uses several types of 3D glasses.

Regular 3D glasses
For 3D screenings, you need 3D glasses, which you can buy for €2.00. These glasses are also available for children. You can buy the glasses when ordering tickets and are also available separately at the cinema box office. You can recognise these 3D glasses by the Pathé logo on the side or the RealD 3D logo.

For a 3D screening in IMAX with laser, you need special IMAX with laser 3D glasses. These can be purchased when ordering tickets for €2. The glasses are also available for purhcase at the cinema box office. The glasses can be recognised by 'IMAX with Laser' on the side of the glasses. Regular (IMAX) 3D glasses do not work.

Dolby Cinema 3D glasses
At a Dolby Cinema 3D screenings, you will receive special rental 3D glasses at the entrance to the Dolby Cinema auditorium. You return these glasses to one of our colleagues after the screening.
Please note: other 3D glasses do not work in the Dolby Cinema auditorium.

3D glasses for children
We have smaller 3D glasses especially for children. When ordering tickets via the website or Pathé App, you can order glasses for €2.00. At the ticket check, you can indicate that you would like children's 3D glasses.

The Clip-On 3D glasses
With most frames, the 3D glasses fit over the normal glasses. We also have clip-on 3D glasses that you can click onto your own frame. These glasses cost €2.75.

The clip-on 3D glasses can only be used for regular 3D and 4DX 3D screenings. The glasses do not work with IMAX and Dolby Cinema.

The Pathé Unlimited Gold 3D glasses
After creating a Pathé Unlimited Gold subscription, you will receive two pairs of glasses; regular 3D glasses and IMAX 3D glasses! You can pick up the 3D glasses at the cinema with your digital pass.

If you have forgotten or lost the glasses from the subscription, you will have to buy a regular (IMAX) 3D glasses at the cinema. A regular pair of (IMAX) 3D glasses costs € 2.00 each, upon presentation of your Unlimited Gold subscription you only pay € 1.50.

As an Unlimited Gold subscriber you will automatically receive an email to pick up a new 3D and IMAX 3D glasses every three months.

If you are blind in one eye, you can only watch a 3D performance in 2D. For this you do need a 3D glasses.
